Give Brittany several sheets of Construction paper a box of crayons and some tape and in less than five minutes she did this. Such talent.

This must have been her "ok Mom it's cold hurry up and take the picture" face.

Pictures of Brittany at "Christmas In Hanceville" Dec 2, 2006. We had a great time. Brittany went on the hayride to see Santa, Jumped in the Castle Jump House, scarfed down a hotdog, coke and popcorn in record time and found the Clown who was making Balloon Animals and had her make an orange dog with a yellow leash. We also watched a group of cloggers.

Was up at my brother's house over the Thanksgiving holidays. Note that Starbucks is a closer walk than drive from his home :-)

Hanceville Elementary Fall Festival Oct 28 2006

Brittany's Jack-O-Lantern

Brittany and I went to the Fall Festival at Hanceville Elementary School today. She had a blast. She played most of the games--Bean Toss, Fish for Prizes, Spin & Win and went in the House of Bones and of course had to jump around in the Bounce House. She won a large stuffed animal. She picked out a black cat dressed in a Pumpkin outfit. She also got popcorn and a coke. It is great to get to spend time with her.

My Daughter has been diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified. Hers seems to be problems communicating although she is a whiz with school work and at times she suffers from anxiety. I honestly believe that her anxieties are mostly caused by not being able to get her point across or knowing the way to go about expressing herself. I have been reading up on the disorder and found the following links useful. Anyway...she is a great child and I love her.

OpenOffice.org: Home

Was looking around online trying to price MS Access 2003 which is something I need that didn't come with my MS Office 2003 Sm. Business Suite and found this site-- OpenOffice.org: Home. While it won't help me get the software I need for my MicroComputer Applications class I do want to check it out. Looks pretty interesting.

Had a great weekend with my daughter. Amanda(a friend that I worked with at WallyWorld) and I went along with my daughter to the Day in the Park Event at Heritage Park in Cullman this past Saturday. While the grass was holding alot of water and it made things a little messy we still had a great time. Brittany went to the face painting booth and got a large red heart painted on her right cheek. We also found her a book and some Highlights Mags in the yard sale portion of the Park. Talk about excited she was overjoyed at finding Highlights...one of her favorite things. We stopped and got drinks and some popcorn and Amanda surprised Brittany by getting Brittany one of those Superman inflatables that wasn't much shorter than Brittany herself. After we had some drinks and popcorn we went to see the car show event which they had out by the side of the park that is closest to Woodland. I was amazed at the number of orange cars. Orange is Brittany's favorite color. She saw some puppies and it took some convincing on my part that she didn't really "have" to have one. Brittany went on the Train Ride, thru Noah's Ark, Jonah & the Whale and the obstacle course portions of the kids events. After leaving the park we went for lunch at Burger King and then did some shopping at Walmart. Brittany came away from the shopping experience with a Superman shirt and a Superman DVD. What a spoiled kid...but a lovable one Sunday morning I attended Sunday School and Worship service with her and her paternal grandparents at 7th St Baptist. It was a really nice weekend.

Tonight's The Office Episode, Idol Results and Day in the Park

Well Tonight's The Office episode was great as usual. I am really nervous about Jim putting in for a transfer. At least I think that's what he did. From the previews I couldn't really tell for sure. Maybe it's just what the writers want us to think. Season Finale is next Thurs. will post more on my thoughts on the show then. Paris left American Idol Wed. as she had the least amount of votes. I was really nervous for Elliott. He is my favorite. I honestly thought he did a better version of Home than Michael Buble's live version on AOL. I think that is one thing that people tend to forget--the people we hear on records have the benefit of editing and being in a studio. It is seldom that artist's live performance is the same as what we hear on records. To compare the contestants to a recorded version we are used to hearing really isn't fair but I'm sure that's not the only thing in life that isn't fair. The four remaining contestants on Idol are all good. Each pretty much has a different genre as well so it should be interesting. Saturday Brittany and I will hopefully be going to Day in the Park at Heritage Park. I have plenty of sunscreen as well as aftersun gel and lotion. I hope she wll have a great time. I believe they are having games, car show and a few other things. Should be a good day hopefully if the weather is good. Right now they are calling for partly cloudy hi 77 low 61. of course that could also be partly sunny depending on how you look at it. Still haven't heard back from the place I had the job interview at on Monday.

SSL Negotiation Failed

Found the solution to the problem I was having getting my gmail to pop into Eudora. I kept getting SSL Negotiation Failed Certificate Error. Hopefully this will be useful to others who use gmail in conjunction with Eudora. I would guess the solution would be the same for a MS Outlook or MS Outlook Express user but they would have to figure out how to do it within the respective program.

What a weird weekend...

One of the weirdest weekends of my life...I swear. It makes me wonder if there is an ounce of good left in the world. I'm voting no. I watched the Rerun of "The Office" --The Dundies episode Thur. It's one of my favorites.

Spring Cleaning

I guess it was a fairly productive weekend. Have been going thru old papers and condensing down stuff and throwing things away. I plan on doing the same thing with my books. As much as I love my books it's probably a good idea if I get rid of ones that don't have a special meaning to me....I know...if I do that I won't be getting rid of any of them.

American Idol Results--Mar 29th

I was a bit surprised that Katherine was in the bottom 3. I think even Bucky was surprised by that. Lisa having the least amount of votes was no surprise..her performance was really poor.

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide LYRICS

Heard this song for the first time in a long time this evening.

Lyrics of Landslide--sung by Fleetwood Mac
I took my love and I took it down
Climbed a mountain and turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
'til the landslide brought it down

Oh, mirror in the sky -What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin'...ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
I don't know.....I don't know

Well I've been afraid of changin'
because I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder, even children get older
And I'm getting older too....

So, take my love...take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
and if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills...
well the landslide will bring it down
The landslide will bring it down

Not much going on. Still haven't had any luck with the job search. The end of May will be here before I know it and I am very worried.

Saturday, February 04, 2006

The job search isn't going so well. Finding a job that pays enough to cover my basic bills and which I am able to get back and forth to and from on public transportation may be a problem. It's not that I have alot of bills 'cause in the big scope of things I don't. Jobs around here just do not pay much over minimum wage.

I watched an episode of Bones starring David Boreanaz(most folks will remember him as Angel from the series of the same name which was a spinoff of Buffy the Vampire Slayer). I liked the show ok and thought it was well written however I do not like feel like there is any chemistry between Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. Just feels kinda forced. Hopefully they can prove me wrong.

Television shows I enjoy:

  • American Chopper
  • Mythbusters
  • Scrubs
  • American Idol
  • The Shield
